Production has started!

According to the latest news post on RaspberryPi.org, it looks as if the first batch of 10,000 Model B’s is now in production in Asia.  The foundation tried to have the devices produced in the UK but it seems the politics got in the way.  Big surprise.  We could imagine a similar outcome if an american company were trying to undertake this sort of task with an american manufacturer.  They make it sound like they’ll have the units in a few weeks, and have stated that they’ll decide how they want to sell them by then.  Sounds like they need to start allowing pre-orders on these things.  Ten thousand units is going to go pretty fast!

… and now we wait.

The Raspberry Pi is on it’s way!  We’ve created this news portal and forum for the community eager to begin their work on this new technology.  The price of entry is low!
This is a place to share ideas, get help to make those ideas a reality, and make new and interesting things for ourselves and others.

There is a large community waiting, but the time is almost here.  Visit Raspberrypi.org to get the official “sale” announcement.  In the meantime, this is what we have:

And a nice demo video showing some of the capabilities of this device:

We may not want to actually use this thing in our day-to-day home theater setup, but it’s nice to know the capability is there for this sort of thing.  Pretty amazing, we think.
